Study of flow-structure interaction occuring in vocal folds The human voice is generated by the oscillatory motion of the vocal folds. The vocal folds are located within the larynx and typically vibrate at 100 - 300 Hz. Using time-resolved PIV, it is possible to resolve the flow dynamics between the folds during vibration. The data is correlated with acoustic measurements and is used to study the flow-structure interaction that occurs in the vocal folds. Experimental setupResultsCourtesy of L.
